A record number of youngsters turned out for a spooky day of family fun.

Around 570 children and their families ventured to Godinton House on Sunday for the annual pumpkin day.

Among the fun and games were pumpkin lantern carving, ghost stories, a treasure hunt and conkers matches.

Godinton spokesman Rachel Fagg said: “It was a fantastic day, with a higher turnout than ever before, which was great considering the dire weather forecast.

“Everyone who came seemed to have a great time, and I don’t just mean the children.

“Lots of the parents got involved, particularly with the traditional conker games.”
