This is the massive haul of cannabis officers found near their own police station.

They raided a property close to Ashford's station and discovered almost 300 plants.

Now one person has been arrested.

The officers, based in Church Road, took the action today and all plants were bagged and taken away.

Kent Police Ashford tweeted just after 4pm: "Knocking (smashing door in) at our neighbours today proved fruitful.

"The property was being used to grow cannabis and the occupant found himself arrested... 281 plants all bagged and tagged.

"Think we are now off their Christmas card list this year."

A police spokesman said: "On the morning of Sunday, February 19, Kent Police officers carried out a drugs warrant at a property in Norwood Street, Ashford.

"A number of cannabis plants were seized and an investigation is ongoing.

"A 36-year-old man from south London was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and has since been bailed until a date in May while enquiries continue."

Ashford's police station is currently undergoing a multimillion-pound upgrade after safety concerns were raised about the cladding on the building.

In 2021, bosses said the much-delayed project has been held up by Brexit and the pandemic.
