A charity which is providing assistance to children who are struggling to read are calling on our readers to support their work.

The KM Group is supporting Beanstalk as part of our Get Kent Reading Campaign.

We have previously reported on the work being done by the group in schools across the borough, improving literacy levels, as well as children’s enjoyment of reading.

But now Beanstalk is asking for your help in funding its vital efforts.

East Kent manager Anne Loftus said “We’re extremely grateful for the support shown for Get Kent Reading, both in terms of the new volunteers coming forward and the support from local groups with their fundraising initiatives.

“Donations make a big difference. £4.60 will pay for one reading session for a child, £9.20 buys a child an hour’s literacy support and £322 will provide a year of one-to-one reading support.

“We are also looking for local businesses to support the Big Beanstalk Bonanza, a one day fundraising event you can hold in your work place.

“We are looking for the first Ashford businesses to sign up.”

Every company which submits its funds by Friday, July 19, will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury trunk packed full of treats and a digital radio for their office.
